Balazs Vekes

Becky Johnson
Becky Johnson
Becky Johnson (The Witching Hour - Producer) is a comedian, actor, writer, producer and other things from Vancouver, by way of Toronto, by way of Pender Island (kinda). She wrote and performed three revues with Toronto Second City’s MainStage, has written and performed on television shows like Baroness von Sketch & This Hour Has 22 Minutes as well as touring, performing and producing myriad improvised live shows over the past thirty years. Much of her family now resides in the Pender Island cemetery and she is happy to be back part-time to chill near them.
Bryce Woollcombe
Bryce Woollcombe
Bryce has been a performer for 35 years, an educator for 30, and a Penderite for 50, on and off. Trained on classical saxophone, ethnomusicology, acoustics, and pedagogy, he currently teaches improvisational chemistry and Vogon poetics to the youth of Pender. He’s a recovering musical snob and a fierce fan of Canadian music.
Disc Jockey Charlie
Disc Jockey Charlie
Disc Jockey Charlie was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, where a steady diet of CFOX, Z95.3, and MuchMusic helped shape a lifelong love of music, radio, and great storytelling before eventually finding his home here on Pender Island. With a career spanning decades in the Film & Television industry, and currently working as a director and cinematographer, Charlie brings a producer’s ear, a storyteller’s instinct, and a deep background in technology to the airwaves. Equal parts nostalgia, curiosity, and good vibes, Disc Jockey Charlie blends the spirit of classic radio with a fresh perspective, serving up music, memories, and the occasional surprise for listeners on Pender Radio.

Laurie Storrie
Laurie Storrie
Laurie has spent the last 20 years as a musician constantly touring the country in Rock, Folk, Country and Punk bands. This has given them a huge amount of exposure to the weird and wonderful acts that live in the underground scenes. Also working as a promoter, tour manager, and festival organizer, Laurie is constantly looking for ways to help these bands to get recognized on a larger scale, and what better way than radio?

Lee-Ann Jespersen
Lee-Ann Jespersen
Come on a literary journey with me as we read our way through novels full of adventure, mischief, intrigue, mystery, and imagination. I’ll read as many chapters as I can fit into one hour and I’m hoping as I get more comfortable behind the mic we’ll make the show more interactive- who knows! Like most of life this show is always a work in progress!
Leslie McBain
Leslie McBain
Write crappy poetry, it’s better than not writing poetry at all. I do that every day! Every art form that humans have ever conceived has value. Some say poetry saves lives, some say poetry heals, some say poetry is just full of BS. Let’s get together and you decide for yourself.

Rebeccah Nelems
Rebeccah Nelems
A nature lover at heart, Beccah has been swimming in Magic Lake long enough to remember sunbathing on the old poop dock and summer swims before the goldfish exfoliation era. Drawn equally to the landscapes in nature and people, she is a sociologist, community-based researcher and singer-songwriter whose always thought the greatest superpower is to experience home - and the everyday - as if one is a traveler. She loves learning about what makes others come alive - whether through their stories about the things that make them laugh, stay up too late, or the tunes that - for better or worse - have woven themselves into the fabric of their lives.

Tammy Adolf
Tammy Adolf
Tammy wears many Pender hats — she’s half the force behind Kraken Underground and Hot Dog Solutions, the sole human behind the creations of Pancake Coalition, and spends her day job doing deeply nerdy tech and business process work. Somewhere between community events, design projects, and occasional hyper-fixations, she somehow decided to find time to haunt the airwaves with the Department of Disembodied Voices.
